SKY Airline Launches Flights Between São Paulo and Bariloche

Starting November 28, 2024, SKY Airline Launches Operations, the Chilean low-cost carrier, began flights connecting São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) to San Carlos de Bariloche (BRC), in Argentina, with a stopover in Santiago (SCL), in Chile. This is the first time the company operates a route using sixth freedom traffic rights in Argentina, allowing it to carry passengers between two countries other than its home country, with a stopover in its own territory.
Flight Schedule
Flights will operate four times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays — on the following schedule:
- São Paulo to Santiago: Flight H2 651, departing at 8:50 a.m. and arriving at 1:10 p.m.
- Santiago to Bariloche: Continuation of flight H2 651, departing at 2:10 p.m. and arriving at 4:05 p.m.
- Bariloche to Santiago: Flight H2 652, departing at 5:05 p.m. and arriving at 7:00 p.m.
- Santiago to São Paulo: Continuation of flight H2 652, departing at 8:00 p.m. and arriving at 11:50 p.m.
Passengers do not need to deplane or change aircraft during the stopover in Santiago, making the trip more convenient. It is worth noting that, although there is a stopover, the flight is considered direct.
Seasonal Operation
This operation is scheduled to run between November 28, 2024, and March 30, 2025, using Airbus A320neo aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers. During this period, SKY Airline will offer a total of 24,800 seats on this route. The company plans to resume flights on the same segment in June 2025, aligning with Bariloche's tourist seasons.
Competition and Market
Starting December 6, 2024, LATAM Airlines will also begin operations between Santiago and Bariloche, with three weekly flights through March 2025, offering 17,400 seats during the season. SKY Airline's entry on this route increases competition, benefiting passengers with more flight options and potentially better fares.
